Over the years his collection grew substantially. Palmen started collecting cars approximately 40 years ago with a yellow Lancia B20 being the first car. The stance adopted by contemporary artists that seeks to go beyond our preconceptions in a creative way is also connected to this exploration of these unknowns. In each of these disciplines, researchers are exploring the “unknowns” of the world, delving into history, and making new discoveries and inventions from the past to the future in order to enrich our perception of the world. It is a composite field with connections to all subjects, including language and literature, mathematics, science, and social studies. Since the 1990s, when the development of contemporary art began to be considered from multiple perspectives in different parts of the world, we have been seeing that contemporary art today goes far beyond the framework of arts and crafts and fine art in the school classroom. Despite this, I think Lost Masterpieces in Pornography is vastly underappreciated. Now, that being said, it probably could have leaned a bit more into that corny territory and played a lot more with the comedic opportunities it had, and the sound is WAY too tinny even for an old film, which took me out of the experience for the majority of the short. I thought that angle was absolutely creative and hilarious, and I loved some of the little touches that are thrown in, such as someone softly bringing a fan down to the floor instead of letting it drop. This film pokes fun at some of the absurdities that sometimes come out of archiving strange artifacts like old porn films, and I LOVED how it did that, with Ricky Jay acting as a preservation-like host guiding us through the fact that this fragment was found and is seen as a lost masterpiece. I mean, heck, even today's porn could be seen as historical artifacts in the future, as weird as that is to think about. It's not technically necessary to preserve most porn films, since most porn films haven't had a huge impact on our society, but there are definitely arguments to be made for some older films like this. There are some things that I think should be completely destroyed and never witnessed, yes, but the line can certainly become blurry when it comes to certain boundaries. See, I mentioned in some of my previous reviews that I'm a wannabe archivist, and I love the idea of things being preserved for future generations. However, what really struck me about this film was the archival aspect of it. Hopefully, she was comfortable, and if she was, she's got guts for doing a role like this. Do they hate it for its content? Maybe, but I still think this film is respectful of the actors involved, and I would like to think that Kristen Bell wouldn't take a role like this unless she was comfortable. It's spoofing old porn films with a terrible budget at their disposal, being corny is probably the best compliment I can give this short. Is it because it's campy? Maybe, but that's the whole point of this short. ![]() I honestly don't get why people seem to be so lukewarm on this short, possibly even hating it. David Mamet?! What the heck is he doing here? Whatever compelled him to write this short, I don't care because I think it's pretty darn entertaining. ![]() a weird thing to review, huh? But you know what, I've been on a streak of Letterboxd reviews for over a week now, I have other things I have to do tonight, and I didn't want to break that streak, so here we are, reviewing this random short film by.
